Class descriptors

This is a chance for parents/guardians to have fun with their young children in a safe and stimulating gymnastics environment. Sessions are suitable for children who are walking to 3 years old. Many children start this session and then move onto a coached class (gym cubs 3-5 years) There is always a qualified coach in attendance to assist and advise, but during this session parents/guardians are responsible for their children.  The session lasts for an hour but actual activity time is approximately 45 minutes.

Structured gymnastics sessions designed for children aged 3-5 years to help develop a confident and co-ordinated youngster. Gymnasts work in small groups under the direction of a coach. Class content includes jumping, swinging and balancing activities in order to improve overall co- ordination, spatial awareness and important motor skills. The children work in a safe and stimulating environment which utilises a vast range of equipment and soft play.

A general level gymnastics classes for boys and girls. Again many children move from Gym Cubs to our level 1 classes which cater for all boys and girls of school age regardless of ability.

These classes are accessed by invite or by application only and are the next stage up from level 1 in our gymnastics programme.  These classes are designed to progress the gymnasts through to the next stage of gymnastics elements using the full range of gymnastics equipment.

These classes are also accessed by invite or application only and are the next stage up from level 2 in our gymnastics programme. These classes are designed for the older gymnast (approx. age 9+) The class runs for 2 hours giving time for the gymnasts to progress and develop.

We integrate many children with additional support and disability needs, but this may not suit every child.  Children will either work with a parent/guardian or support in attendance, and some will work in small groups with the coach.  This session gives children a chance to enjoy the benefits of gymnastics and all it offers in a smaller, quieter class.  More time to focus on individual goals with trained staff.

As part of a wide and varied programme the above groups can attend an annual gymnastics display and gymnastics competition.

The adult class is available to adults of all abilities. This is a fun but structured class run by very experienced British Gymnastics Qualified coaches. So whether you are a complete beginner or a returning gymnast looking to dust of those cob webs, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

As part of the overall gymnastics initiative run at Inverclyde there is also a competitive section to the programme. So if you think your child has a particular aptitude for gymnastics please get in touch with the Gymnastics Development Manager at the centre to arrange an assessment.
