Golf membership - Terms and Conditions
Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions constitutes a contract between you and sportscotland.
Your membership is conditional upon the adhering of these Terms and Conditions and all other rules and regulations made by us from time to time.
Who we are? These “Terms and Conditions” form the contract between you. (“the Member” or “you”) and us, The Scottish Sports Council Trust Company, a company incorporated in Scotland under the
Companies Act 2006 with Registration Number SC137068 and having its registered address at The Doges, Templeton on the Green, 62 Templeton Street, Glasgow, G40 1DA (“sportscotland”, “we” or “us”).
The Trust Company is a trading company who are controlled by The Scottish Sports Council trading as ‘sportscotland,’ established by Royal Charter (RC000546) and having its Principal Office at The Doges, Templeton on the Green, 62 Templeton Street, Glasgow, G40 1DA. VAT Registration Number 592995276.

If we have to contact you, we will do so by telephone or by writing to you at the email address you provided to us in your application.
“Writing” includes emails. When we use the words “writing or written” in these terms, this includes emails.
2.1. A contract for Golf Membership will come into existence between you and us, upon completion of the following elements:
- Receipt of a completed application form with signed acknowledgement of these terms and conditions. Parent/guardian is required to complete for junior membership applications.
- Payment of your joining fee in full.
- Receipt of a completed direct debit form.
- Completion of an induction.
3.1 ‘Membership’ means your contractual relationship with us, which can be on various terms, offering services and benefits depending on the type held. You must be at least 14 years old to qualify for a Golf Membership.
4.1. These services will commence on the date your application is accepted and shall continually remain in force unless either sportscotland or you terminate the contract using the provisions within paragraphs 8 and 9 below. You can give one month’s notice to terminate your membership at any time and there will be no financial sanction for cancellation.
5.1. On acceptance of your membership, all golf members will be supplied with access to the golf facility via a coded access card.
5.2. Members will be provided with a one off top up of 400 balls at the time of joining, which will be credited to their membership card.
5.3. Any additional balls can be purchased from our main reception. Members can purchase golf ball tokens or golf ball credit which is credited to their membership card. Pricing I available on our website.
5.4. Upon cancellation no refunds will be due for any golf ball credit remaining on the membership card. Any remaining credit will become void following the last day of access. Credit is non-transferable.
6.1. Membership fees are VAT exempt, current pricing is available on our website.
6.2. On acceptance of your application, you will be required to pay your joining fee in full.
6.3. Thereafter payment of Membership fees are due monthly, in advance and are payable by direct debit. You must complete a Direct Debit form as part of the application process. sportscotland aim to take membership payments on the 1st of each month. Where the 1st of a month falls on a non-banking day, payment will be taken on the next available day after. This date cannot be changed.
7.1. Minor changes. We may change how we deliver your Membership:
- to reflect changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements which may include changing how we handle and process your personal data or payments.
- to implement minor technical adjustments and improvements, for example to address a security threat or health and safety issue.
- to maintain and repair the golf facility, any equipment, or the building.
- to make improvements to our facilities.
These changes are not expected to significantly affect your use of the services provided to you. There would be no reduction in membership pricing as a result of a minor change.
7.2. More significant changes. In addition, we may make more significant changes to these terms or the services. Changes may include but are not limited to.
a) Membership price.
b) Opening Hours; and
c) Types of Membership available.
sportscotland will provide you with a minimum of 30 days’ notice of any significant changes to your membership. Communication of any changes will be made in writing. You may then contact us to end the contract before the changes take effect. For further details on cancelling your membership please refer to paragraph 9.
8.1. We may cancel or suspend a Membership in the following instances:
- if there is a serious or repeated breach of these Terms and Conditions or Code of Conduct.
- If the Membership direct debit payment is not paid in full at its due date; or
- if you provide us with details which we know to be false when applying for Membership and the false declaration would have reasonably affected our decision to grant you Membership.
8.2. We reserve the right to cancel or suspend any Membership and retain all money which has been paid to sportscotland under this agreement to cover any reasonable costs sportscotland has incurred as a result of the grounds for cancellation.
- Grounds for cancellation or suspension include but are not limited to issues relating to safety, clear evidence that the member is abusing the service, allowing others to abuse it, or otherwise behaving in a way that involves serious risk to our interests or those of other members.
8.3. We are not responsible for delays outside our control. If our performance of the services is affected by an event outside our control, we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know and we will take steps to minimise the effect of the delay. Provided we do this we will not be liable for delays caused by the event but if there is a risk of substantial delay you may contact us to end the contract and receive a refund for any services you have paid for but not received.
Delays outside our control may include but are not limited to:
- Adverse weather.
- Road traffic accidents restricting access.
- Equipment failure.
9.1. You may, at any time, terminate your membership by cancelling your direct debit directly with your bank. Direct debit cancellation is required three days prior to the end of a calendar month to ensure the next payment is not taken.
9.2. Please also advise us of your cancellation in writing either by, emailing us at inverclyde.enquiries@sportscotland.org.uk or by completing a cancellation form which is available from reception. It is the member's responsibility to ensure cancellation of direct debit and the centre will not issue refunds in event of direct debit not cancelled prior to collection date.
9.3. All members will retain access to services related to their membership for the remainder of the calendar month following their final direct debit payment.
10.1. Members cannot use their own balls on any part of the facility. Centre balls must not be removed from the facility.
10.2. When striking golf shots members must ensure they play from one of the three designated tee off areas and must only play “legal” shots to ensure the safety of others. Legal shots are clearly displayed at each tee off zone.
10.3. Members are not permitted to enter the live play zone for any reason. Any balls played to the live play zone must not be collected by the member.
10.4. The short game zone, which includes the two performance greens and performance bunkers, is the only part of the facility where golf balls should be collected by the golfer. When using this area members must golf responsibly, selecting appropriate shots to ensure the safety of others.
10.5. Members are advised that the use of Drivers and Woods is only permitted from Tee position A. Tee position B and C are for iron and wedge play only.
10.6. Golf Trolleys must be kept of the tees and greens. Trolleys are not permitted in areas marked GUR.
10.7. Golf Bags are permitted on tees, however they must be kept off the greens and putting surfaces.
10.8. All golf members must be respectful of other golf training centre users and staff. Shots must never be struck from behind another user. Golfers must never walk in front of or set up to play in front of other users.
10.9. The centre will operate winter tees during winter opening times and on occasions where grass tee areas need time to repair following periods of heavy use or poor weather. This will be communicated to members and members must only use synthetic tee areas during these times.
11.1 Membership cards must be carried at all times. Your card is required to access the facility and to dispense balls using purchased golf ball credit. If you lose your card, you may purchase a replacement at a cost of £5 from reception. Sharing of cards to other members as well as permitting access to non-members is strictly prohibited and will result in termination or temporary cessation of membership.
11.2 Golf members must follow all applicable Health and Safety notices displayed at the Centre.
11.3 In the event of any incident or emergency please report this either in person or by telephone to the Centre’s reception immediately. An incident form will require to be completed.
11.4 Centre staff may have requirement to access the facility in use at any time for health & safety or maintenance purposes. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption.
11.5 You are expected to conduct yourself in a safe and appropriate way having due regard for fellow users and the Golf Code of Conduct.
12.1. The Centre accepts no liability for any loss or damage occurring from the use of the Facilities, Activities and Services or for loss of, or damage to, property or items left at the Centre. The Centre will not be held liable or be required to pay compensation howsoever incurred as a direct or indirect result of any cancellation including but not limited to any third-party loss or liability incurred. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude or limit sportscotland’s liability for death or personal injury caused by sportscotland’s negligence, the negligence of its employees or agents or for fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.
12.2. You are responsible for ensuring that you correctly operate or use any facilities and/or equipment.
12.3. You must notify staff immediately if any Facilities or surrounding residential buildings become damaged during use. Any deliberate or negligent damage of centre facilities and/or equipment by Members will be subject to a full like for like replacement charge and any associated costs.
12.4. Members are liable for any damage caused to surrounding residential buildings. Any damage claims will be between the member and the resident or the person raising the claim. All golfers are encouraged to purchase valid golfers insurance prior to using the golf training facility.

13.2. We will use the personal information you provide to us to:
a) Provide the services for the performance of this contract.
b) Process your payment for such services; and
c) If you agreed to this during the application process, to inform you about similar products and services that we provide, but you may stop receiving these communications at any time by contacting us.
13.3. We will only give your personal information to third parties where the law either requires or allows us to do so.
13.4. For Photography and Videography, please see the separate Consent Form detailing how we process personal data.
14.1 Nobody else has any rights under this contract. This contract is between you and us. No other person shall have any rights to enforce any of its terms.
14.2 If a court finds part of this contract illegal, the rest will continue in force. Each of the paragraphs of these terms operates separately. If any court or relevant authority decides that any of them are unlawful, the remaining paragraphs will remain in full force and effect.
14.3 Which laws apply to this contract and where you may bring legal proceedings. These terms are governed by Scottish Law, and you can bring legal proceedings in respect of the services in Scottish courts.
14.4 Should you be dissatisfied with any aspect of your membership or services received, please contact the Guest Support Manager in the first instance to discuss. If you remain dissatisfied, please consult our Complaints Policy for further information: https://sportscotland.org.uk/complaints/.
- Members should use their own personal golf card for access to the golf training centre. Sharing of member cards strictly prohibited and may result in membership cancellation. Please attend reception if you lose your card, replacement cards can be purchased during reception opening hours at a cost of £5 per band.
- No filming, image or audio capture of others is permitted. Members are subject to challenge over any phone use which is of concern to staff or other members.
- Members should not share content online including social media channels that could identify another member or user group.
- Wear suitable clothing and footwear for the activities to be undertaken.
- Use the facility in a safe manner for its intended purpose.
- Show consideration for other users and staff refraining from any behaviour, which was considered aggressive, abusive, intimidating, anti-social or threatening manner or in a way that might cause distress to staff or members.
- Be considerate towards all staff and cooperate with their instructions.
