Code of conduct

Our gymnastics programme at sportscotland is fully committed to promoting good sportsmanship and providing a fun, safe, and child friendly environment for the advancement of the sport. As a parent or guardian of a gymnast in of our programme, you are expected to respect the following guidance: 

In the BUILDING gymnasts must: 

  • Sit quietly in the waiting area and DO NOT enter the gym unless one of the coaches invites you to come in 
  • DO NOT leave the building until you are picked up by your parent/guardian unless it has been agreed with the coach first. 
  • Take care and be responsible for your own property. Mobile phones must be left switched off in the changing area and are not allowed for use for social media purposes or in the gymnastics hall. 
  • If you hear the FIRE ALARM line up quickly and safely and follow instructions from your coach or sportscotland staff member how to safely leave the building. DO NOT RUN! 

In the GYMNASTICS HALL gymnasts must: 

  • Listen to the coaches and always follow their instructions. 
  • DO NOT run unless instructed to do so and move around the gym in a safe manner, be mindful of others. 
  • DO NOT leave the gym without being told it is ok to do so. 
  • DO NOT eat or drink in the gymnastics hall and take care of all apparatus in the gym. 

Injury 

  • You MUST inform your coach immediately if you feel unwell or have hurt yourself before or during the class. 

Behaviour 

  • Be respectful to your coach and other gymnasts, remember never do anything to upset another gymnast, be thoughtful and work as team. Work hard, have fun and enjoy your sport!
