Gymnastics FAQs

Gymnastics is an important, well-rounded sport that can significantly improve the mental and physical health of children. It provides a strong foundation for children and has numerous, incredible long-term health benefits for all. When performed correctly, under supervision, it’s one of the safest sports for children to engage in, and it offers multiple benefits that can last a lifetime! Gymnastics develops increased fitness, flexibility, strength, balance, and confidence and improves the ability to learn, focus, and remember, but most of all, it’s FUN! Skills learned in gymnastics are readily transferable to other areas of life and can help to make you a better athlete, student, and friend.

Gymnastics is a very safe sport when carried out under the supervision of an experienced trainer. Additionally, the skills gained from gymnastics training, such as strength development, core building, and improving flexibility, help reduce the risk of injury in children.

Our fully trained professional team of coaches offer a wealth of knowledge offering different disciplines and years of experience within the sport

Children can start learning gymnastics as early as 18 months old, learning through music, movement, and play within a structed class before moving onto an independent class (3-5 years of age). Gymnastics should be encouraged at this young age to help with early years development. At this age, children can learn fine and gross motor skills which will aid in their physical development into their pre-school years! They will mostly be learning very basic skills that will help them understand how to control their bodies and develop their listening skills.

Our full-time dedicated gymnastics facility is well equipped with Olympic standard apparatus for both girls and boys. Bring your child along and let them experience gymnastics in a fun and safe environment, with skilled coaches helping them to achieve their full potential.

Our classes are designed to allow children to participate with their friend groups as well as progressing individually within their class. Gymnastics takes a long-time to master and develop as a sport.  Depending on the amount of time spent doing activity, their physical capabilities, and their mental state of mind, all contribute towards how quickly they will progress. It is normal for children to remain within a 1hr class for a few years before moving on to the next level of 1.5hr class. Our coaching team are constantly assessing and monitoring everyone to ensure that they are working within their correct class.

Our Gym Tots and Freeplay classes require an adult to stay and participate for the duration of the class.

Our other classes, Gym Cubs, Minis, Junior, and Senior, adults are not allowed to enter the gymnasium. This is to adhere with child protection & safety requirements.

We host a family week in the lead up to the summer break where adults can watch their child's class and see their progress. E-mails will be sent out regarding this, please check with reception that we have your correct e-mail address.
